April 15, 2021: Even after Punjab CM, Capt. Amrinder Singh, rejected his VRS application, saying he is too decorated to be lost, the 1998 batch IPS officer and state IGP Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh reiterated his decision to leave the service. “I will continue to serve society in the best possible manner. Not as IPS,” the officer announced on his SM handle.

Kunwar, who has more than eight years in hand to retire i.e. in 2029, is seriously upset over the P&H HC rejecting the SIT report prepared under his leadership. What apparently hurt Kunwar more was the HC's advice to the Punjab government to constitute a new team for the purpose without Kunwar.

Kunwar has reportedly sent off his VRS application to the state CS Vini Mahajan through DGP Dinkar Gupta’s office on April 11 - a day after the High Court rejected the SIT report.
