Senior IAS officer Shashank Goel's son Shubham Goel was reportedly shot dead by a group of armed robbers in Istanbul (Turkey) on May 24. Shashank Goel is Principal Secretary (Labour) to the Telangana Government. His son was on a holiday with his friend, a native of Noida. Shubham had completed his graduation from Amity University (Noida) and worked as Deputy Manager at Federal Bank of America. He came to India in the last week of April to attend a family wedding and on his way back to California he made a holiday plan to Turkey. Reportedly, a group of robbers confronted and demanded cash and valuables they carried. When the Subham Goyal and his friend refused to meet their demands, the gang stabbed and shot him, resulting in his instant death. Shubham's mortal remains were brought to New Delhi on Saturday with the help of officials of the External Affairs Ministry. Last rites were performed on Sunday Roorkee (Uttarakhand).
