A post of Member of Airport Regularity Authority of India (AERA) fell vacant this week after D Devaraj completed his tenure on June 07. Devaraj was appointed as Member AERA in August 2013. AERA, headed by Chairman, has two posts of Member. After Deveraj's completion of tenure, AERA has only one Member Dinesh Chander Bajaj.
Reportedly, the SCSC headed by Nambiar has shortlisted the applicants who may be called for an interview shortly. The shortlisted name would be sent to the ACC for consideration and ratification.
AERA, a statutory body, constituted under the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India Act, 2008 (27 of 2008), determines the tariff for the aeronautical services taking into consideration a host of factors including capital expenditure, cost for improving efficiency, revenue received from services other than the aeronautical services, concessions offered by the Central Government in any agreement or memorandum of understanding or otherwise, etc.
