The Supreme Court (SC)
Collegium, headed by CJI Justice Ranjan Gogoi, has recommended names of High
Court Chief Justices to be elevated and appointed as SC Judge namely; Justice V
Ramasubramanian (Himachal Pradesh), Justice Krishna Murari (Punjab & Haryana), S Ravindra
Bhat (Rajasthan) and Justice Hrishikesh Roy (Kerala). Amid 11.5 lakh pending cases
in the Apex Court, the government has recently increased the strength of judges
from 31 to 34 which included CJI. The SC now has 30 judges.
