Following the re-employment of CBDT Chairman P C Mody on Thursday Akhilesh Ranjan (IRSIT:1983), CBDT Member (Legislation), has reportedly resigned from
service six months ahead of his retirement.
The task force headed by Akhilesh Ranjan had on 19 August submitted its
report on the new Direct Tax Code, which would replace the existing Income Tax
Act.
It believed that Mody’s re-employment had blocked Akhilesh Ranjan’s chances of
getting elevated to the coveted post.
