New Delhi (12.07.2024): Supreme Court bench comprising Chief
Justice D Y Chandrachud, Justice J B Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra on
Thursday summoned Chief Secretaries and Finance Secretaries of sixteen states
and asked them to be physically present in the court as they could not ensure
disbursal of pensions and other pending amount of judicial officers on time. The bench said: "We are not sending them to jail. They
should be present and file affidavit. They should be physically present."
The bench said that states have been given seven chances for implementation but
still the complete implementation has not been done. Therefore, Chief
Secretaries should be physically present or this Court may start the contempt
proceeding.
