New Delhi (26.11.2024):The Supreme Court of India has quashed the land allotments made by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to civil servants, MPs, MLAs, judges of Supreme Court and High Court and journalists within the limits. The allotment decision of the Telangana government to cooperative societies of MPs, MLAs, civil servants, journalists etc suffers from manifest arbitrariness. “The classification giving state largesse to Judges of Constitutional Courts, MPs, MLAs, AIS officers, journalists etc favours a privileged section of society, which is already better off compared to the vast majority of marginalised and socio-economically disadvantaged individuals,” the Supreme Court ruled.
