Vijayawada (10.09.2021): The Andhra Pradesh Government has appointed Sameer Sharma (IAS:1985:AP) as the Chief Secretary of the state. Sharma will take up the charge from the incumbent CS Aditya Nath Das who is slated to retire on September 30. A day ahead of the retirement date Aditya Nath Das' tenure of service was (on June 29, 2021) extended by three months ending 30.09.2021. 

At present, Sharma is serving as the Special Chief Secretary to the state government for Planning and Resource Mobilization. Besides, he is also holding the post of vice-chairperson and member secretary of the Institute of Leadership, Excellence, and Governance (ILE&G).

Sharma was brought to the state services from the Central services where he was serving on deputation. In his Central deputation, Sharma was given the charge of the Director-General of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs till June 2021.

Sharma is due to retire in November this year. If some well-placed sources are to be believed he may be given an extension in service beyond November.
