In selection interview held on May 19, 2015, Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has selected S N Bhattacharyya (DIR, OPR, HPC ) for the post of Chairman and Managing Director, Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited (HPCL). Once the selection is ratified by the ACC, S N Bhattacharyya would succeed M V N Rao. The incumbent CMD, M V N Rao had taken over the post on February 09, 2012 and is set to retire on July 31. In the selection interview as many as 4 candidates had appeared before PESB. They are; 1. S N Bhattacharyya , DIR (OPR), HPC 2. S K Jain, DIR (MKTG.), HPC 3. Kushal Saha, DIR (PROD), HEC HPC was set up on May 29, 1970 with the objective to produce substantial volumes of cultural varieties of paper and newsprint to maintain stability of price in a volatile market. Besides, it was expected to act as a catalyst for industrial growth in the North-East. It also aimed at developing indigenous expertise for setting up large newsprint and paper mills. HPC group has four paper mills, two of which are units and two are subsidiary companies. Over a period of three decades, HPC has built up a total capacity of about 3.35 lakh tonnes of paper and newsprint.
