New Delhi (06.02.2022): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has refused to share with Congress any of the 24 Bihar Legislative Council seats for which elections are to be held. Rejected by the RJD, now the All India Congress Committee on Saturday announced its first batch of eight candidates. The Congress- RJD tie has touched a low ebb in Bihar just now. Both the parties were strong allies for the past three decades. The RJD's decision to not accommodate the Congress even in a single of the 24 Council seats - of which the Yadavs allotted one seat to another ally-- CPI-ML - for which the elected local panchayat members will form the electorate across Bihar, further makes it clear that the RJD is systematically distancing from the Congress. During the Bihar assembly polls in 2020, Congress performed very badly. The Congress was part of the RJD-Congress-Left alliance. This underperformance of Congress resulted in RJD distancing itself from the Congress in Legislative Council polls.
