entire bureaucracy in Himachal Pradesh has been anxiously watching the
appointment of next Chairperson of RERA in the state. Himachal Pradesh RERA has
advertised the position for appointment in a hush-hush manner giving just 20
days to apply for the post. Immediately
after the advertisement of the vacancy, the outgoing Chief Secretary Dr Srikant
Baldi (IAS:1985:HP), retiring next month, gave up the charge of the housing
department to ensure that there are no allegations of conflict of interest. What
brings insight into this prospect is the fact that just five months ahead of
his retirement, Baldi was given charge of the Housing Department in August
which he never handled before. If some top sources are to be believed, it is to
make him eligible for the post of Chairman RERA since he has no experience of
