Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India has divided the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) into five zones for a better and effective implementation of the Employees' State Insurance Scheme. Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi and Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, Laddakh and Chandigarh come under the North Zone. The Zonal Office of North Zone has been established at Chandigarh. About 60.68 lakh insured persons and their family members of 3.19 lakh establishments get social security/benefits under the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme in North Zone. All the officers of the regional office were present in the function.

Along with this, Gautam has been assigned with the charge of Insurance Commissioner of Information and Communication Technology, Public Relations, Legal, MSU, Actuary and Official Language of the Corporation at all India level at the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Headquarters in Delhi. Gautam started his work immediately after taking charge and reviewed the implementation of the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme in subordinate corporation offices of the North Zone situated in the state of Punjab and Union territory of Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir in a meeting with the officers. Gautam directed all the officers to provide spontaneous, smooth and prompt services to the insured persons. He directed to execute utmost possible works of hospitals and dispensaries online. 

On arrival of Gautam at Regional Office, Chandigarh, Zonal Insurance Commissioner was welcomed by Rakesh Kumar, Deputy Director (In-Charge), Sub Regional Office, Jalandhar, Sunil Kumar Yadav, Deputy Director (In-Charge), Sub Regional Office, Ludhiana, and all the Officers, Doctors and staff of Regional Office, Chandigarh.
