ratnaprabha-pitches-for-delhi-posting Having failed to become the state chief secretary in October last year, 1981 batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre, Ms K Ratnaprabha, is pitching for a posting at the center as she has almost one year in hand to retire. But she seems to be her own greatest enemy. While jockeying for chief secretaryship, she stepped into the off-bound field of lobbying with Dalit groups to mount pressure on the state government. Naturally, this earned her the wrath of the chief minister who, in a meeting with her in December, made no bones about his displeasure with her. Nevertheless, he forwarded her case for posting in the center. The problem is she was accused by ACB in the infamous Raheja Mindspace and Indu Projects case. Though she was discharged from the Court, the Conduct Rules violations proceedings against her remain and DOPT and CBI have already written to Chief Secretaries of Telangana and Karnataka to initiate action against her on that basis. Nothing has happened so far on it in either state. But that does not automatically qualify her for a posting at the center, even though Karnataka BJP heavyweight BSY is said to be backing her. She has almost one year in hand to retire.
