Ms.Ratnaprabha (IAS:1981:KN) turns 60 today and is moving every piece in the book to get herself a 4 month extension for which papers are being sent to Delhi Prime Ministers office. She has mobilized various caste groups to work on her behalf especially with BJP President Amit Shah and Yeddyurappa to bat for her extension. Also one of her favourite officers in IPS RP Sharma, President of IPS association, misusing IPS Association credentials has asked her to intervene in the breaking down law and order situation, which will help BJP and give it a handle to take on Congress Government coming from the head of a major association. Owing to pressure from her to effect transfers to place pliable officers and remove good officers from districts, a senior Secretary recently proceeded on long leave and she used that time to effect the transfers. On the day of her charge taking, incumbent CS Khuntia was almost "pushed out' of CS office by a group of about 300 of her Dalit supporters who had taken over CS office on that day, in a shameful incident. Ms. Ratnaprabha is trying to keep both BJP and Congress happy at the same time and use her Dalit lady caste-gender card to seek extension in "public interest" and grounds of continuity. Whether PM Narendra Modi will succumb to this pressure tactics in view of upcoming election remains to be seen for several Chief Secretaries have been given extension while few have been denied.
