New Delhi (06.08.2022): In bureaucratic parlance former Special Director CBI and former Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana (Retd IPS:1984:GJ) is seen as the next Governor of West Bengal Governor. Asthana retired on July 31 as Delhi CP. The buzz assumes significance amid Jagdeep Dhankar’s victory as the next Vice President of India. It may be underlined that a day ahead of elections West Bengal Chief Minister met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Asthana was expected for another extension in service. After he retired, a section of whos who in power corridors considered him a finished chapter but the New Delhi establishment may disappoint them by drafting Asthana in a coveted position.
