Rajbala Varma (IAS:1983:JH) is endowed with a USP. Her excellent working equation with politicians of all sorts through her eventful career is a strong testimony in this regard. So, if she rises like Phoenix again in Jharkhand, it won't be surprising at all. A month is a long time in politics. Gone are the days when she was under a cloud weeks ahead of her retirement as Jharkhand CS in February. Nothing happened to her despite the opposition baying for her blood for her alleged role in the Lalu Prasad scam. She managed to not only retire gracefully but also succeeded in ensuring her presence in the Raghubar Das administration through the appointment of her proxies in key posts. And she is now preparing to write a new chapter in her eventful career. Rumors have it that she may be appointed as an adviser of the Jharkhand government because the CM continues to remain under her charm as usual. In case this plan A does not work out, she has a plan B already in place to join the BJP - like her husband who joined the party before the 2014 national election and also contested on its ticket. In official circles, she is often compared with her batchmate Suresh Kumar (Retd IAS:1983: PB) who reportedly enjoys considerable influence over Capt Amarinder Singh in Punjab. Both of them are indeed gifted with a USP to survive and do better in the tumultuous world of Indian politics.
