Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that Railway Board, for the first time ever, has invited Railway Gangmen, now redesignated as track maintainers, for an informal interaction. Sources said Member (Traffic) Md Jamshed took the initiative to hold the first of its kind informal interaction with a group of 'Track Maintainers' in the aftermath of Kanpur train accident (on November 21, 2016) and in the backdrop of 'Rail Chintan Shivir' inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi.
Three groups from three different Railway Zones comprising 12 'Gangmen' from each have been invited at Rail Bhawan on 25th November, where three Members (RB) and select seniors would have an informal discussion with the track maintainers about their problems, challenges, working condition, resources, and logistic requirements. Apart from official issues, officers will interact with them on the hardship they face in their personal life as well so that they may be motivated to work with vigor and enthusiasm on the ground.
'Gangmen' are considered the backbone of railway operations, The first of its kind interaction is being seen as something unusual, extraordinary and a pioneering move/approach.
