President's OSD Suresh Yadav (IRS IT:1994) was appointed Adviser to Executive Director, World Bank, vice D P S Sandhu IRS (IT:1997). Now it seems to be the turn of Rajneesh (IAS:1997:HP), serving PS to President of India, to grab the most sought after foreign posting - that of Senior Adviser to ED World Bank in Washington DC. The post comes under the Department of Economic Affairs. Applications for the post were invited in April 2016, following the completion of tenure of L K Atheek (IAS:1993:KN). Reportedly, the CSB made several efforts to fill the post but could not make up its mind. Indianmandarins has learnt that the CSB again met in mid-October 2016 but it is yet to conclude a decision. A three-month extension (beyond October 30, 2016), given to Rajneesh, has further fuelled the speculation that he may be appointed to the World Bank post. There are two posts of Senior Adviser to ED World Bank, of which one is occupied by Neeraj Mittal (IAS:1992:TN) and the second post is about to be filled. If some well-placed sources are to be believed, Rajnish may shortly get the post held by L K Atheek in WDC.
