Lucknow (30.05.2025): As things progressed in the last few weeks, the Yogi Administration in Uttar Pradesh had indicated that it was not keen on finding a successor to Prashant Kumar (IPS: 1990: UP). Finally, making it clear that Kumar would continue to serve as State DGP, the UP Govt decided to extend Kumar’s service tenure beyond the date of his superannuation i.e. May 31, 2025, though the official confirmation is still awaited. It may be underlined that the Yogi administration maintained its silence on sending panels to UPSC for the selection of the new DGP and alternatively, it didn’t even constitute a committee under the new rules made by the state government for the selection of DGP.ALSO READ:
