New Delhi (01.01.2024):Ravindra Kumar Tyagi on Monday took over as the new CMD of Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL). He succeeds K Sreekant who headed the power sector giant since August 2019. The public-sector head-hunter (PESB) selected him for the coveted post on 21.09.2023 and ACC headed, by PM, cleared his appointment on 18.12.2023 to the post of CMD of POWERGRID.
Prior to this R K Tyagi served as Director (Operations) of POWERGRID since August 2022 and now he may lead the Schedule ‘A’ Maharatna CPSE as CMD till 31.03.2026 i.e. retirement.
Tyagi, an alumnus of Punjab Engineering College (Chandigarh), did M. (Tech) in Energy Studies from IIT Delhi. He is a “Fulbright Scholar” from Carnegie Mellon University, USA.
He has handled multi-disciplinary work in various business areas of POWERGRID such as Asset Management, Engineering, Business Development (domestic and overseas), Telecom, Load Despatch & Communication, NTAMC, DMS etc. and Head of POWERGRID’s North Eastern Region.
