pms-wittiness-regales-bureaucracy-the-other-side-of-namo-2 Prime Minister Narendra Modi might have realized in the last one and a half year that simple human things would take him farther without any cost and system management. So his style of interaction with the bureaucracy has of late undergone a sea change. Some time ago, Bihar Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh was hard put to explain, in a video teleconferencing with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, about the problem of land acquisition impacting the alignment of the second Ganga bridge connecting north Bihar with Patna and south Bihar. As he proceeded further in his briefing detailing numerous difficulties encountered in completing the project in time, NaMo smiled and broke the atmospheric monotony by telling the CS that he was Anjani (meaning Lord Hanuman) himself. The meaning of the remark was not lost on anyone and everybody started smiling. And lo and behold, in the next round of project briefing, the Bihar CS listed out the solutions. A similar story is doing the rounds about the PM's witty interaction with Rajasthan Chief Secretary C S Rajan (IAS:1978:RJ). During the course of an official video conferencing between the two, NaMo remarked that Rajan's parents had visualized in his infancy itself what their child would become, and hence the name: C (Chief) S (Secretary) Rajan. This made everyone around laugh and Rajan, of course, was regaled to no end. And these humane gestures aren't earning only laurels for the PM, they are motivating and inspiring officials to execute things in the best possible way.
