The post of Director (Finance) has been lying vacant since May 31, 2015 after the retirement of P K Bajpai. Currently the additional charge of Director Finance is with Atul Sobti, CMD, BHEL.
A selection interview for the post was held on October 21, 2014 and S K Sahni's (GM, BHEL) name for the post was recommended along with one more name as an alternative and further Chokalingam's name was finally considered for the post which is yet to be ratified by the ACC.
Indianmandarins reliably learns that there has been a feeling among the top decision-makers that S K Sahni's prospects got scuttled merely due to unjustified apprehensions.
