Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday stressed on the use of "advanced technologies" for the construction of green and eco-friendly buildings. The Prime Minister said this after laying the foundation stone for Vanijya Bhawan which will be built in the national capital by NBCC (India) Ltd, a Navratna company. He also said that "all departments under the Commerce Ministry will be able to work in harmony" following the construction of the building. To be constructed in 4.3 acres of land, the proposed Vanijya Bhawan will be a five stories building with two basements and a parking capacity for 444 cars. The total cost of the project is Rs 226.83 crores. In the course of his speech on green and eco-friendly buildings, the Prime Minister also talked about Dr Ambedkar International Centre, Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra and the new office building for the Central Information Commission-all built by NBCC ahead of schedule. Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry and Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution C R Chaudhary, Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia and other senior officials from the Ministries and NBCC were present on the occasion.
