PM finally rewards Topno and Navnit; Dr Kota and four others too get foreign postings

As Indianmandarins had reported first, on 22 May and 03 June, the NaMO administration finally cleared the appointments to Foreign/Captive Posts under the Department of Economic Affairs and Department of Commerce for a period of three years as follows:

  1. Rajeev Topno (IAS:1996:GJ) appointed as Senior Adviser (JS level) to the Executive Director, World Bank, Washington DC (USA) under the Department of Economic Affairs. Topno is Private Secretary to the Prime Minister.
  2. Dr Ravi Kota (IAS:1993:AM) appointed as Minister (Economic) Embassy of India, Washington DC (USA) under the Department of Economic Affairs. Presently, Kota is working in Finance Commission as Joint Secretary.
  3. Brajendra Navnit (IAS:1999:TN) appointed as Ambassador and Permanent Resident of India (PRI) to the World Trade Organisation under the Department of Commerce. Navnit recently completed his tenure as Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office.
  4. N Ashok Kumar (IAS:2004:MN) appointed as Adviser (Industry and Engineering), Embassy of India, Brussels (Belgium) under the Department of Commerce. Presently Ashok is Director in the Department of Commerce.
  5. Lekhan Thakkar (Central Secretariat Service:1995) appointed as Counsellor (Economic), Embassy of India, Beijing under the Department of Economic Affairs.
  6. Anwar Hussain Shaik (IRTS:2000) appointed as Counsellor, Permanent Mission of India to the World Trade Organisation under the Department of Commerce.
  7. H Atheli (ICAS:2000) appointed as Adviser to Executive Director, Asian Development Bank, Manila, the Phillipines under the Department of Economic Affairs.
