In selection interview held on May 18, 2015, PESB has selected Dr. Ashvini Kumar (Dir, SECI) for the post of Managing Director, Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
Rajendra Kumar Nimze (former ED, Karvy) had made it as its first MD in July 2013. After Nimze quit the post of MD the additional charge was given to Dr. Ashvini Kumar (Director, Solar).
In the selection interview as many as 6 candidates had appeared before PESB. They are;

3. Atul Srivastava, ED, SAIL
4. K K Singh, CEO, NTPC
5. Ved Pal, IRSEE, AE, MOR
6. Anand Dev, IRSEE, CEE, MOR
SECI, a newly constituted central PSU, is mandated to cater to India's futuristic demands for green-energy and aims at achieving the target to the tune of 22,000 MW per year by the Yr 2022. It was set up (under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy) on September 20, 2011 as a not-for-profit company to implement and facilitate Solar Energy sector in India.
In its very third year of its birth SECI registered a net profit, though nominal, for the year ending March 31, 2015.
