India Today-Axis opinion poll has given BJP 206-216 seats in the UP state election. In a poll survey conducted between October and December last year, voters gave a thumping mandate to BJP with its vote share increasing from 31 percent in October to 33 percent in December, a clear indication that the scrapping of old high tender notes may bear no effect on the poll outcome. The rise in vote percentage would roughly translate into 206-216 seats for the BJP, edging them past the halfway mark in the 403-member assembly. This is a major improvement considering that the party had won just 47 seats in the last assembly elections.
