New Delhi (24.06.2026):The ACC on June 23, 2026 approved extension of Shyam Jagannathan (IAS: 1997: AM), Director General (Shipping), Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways for a period of two years i.e. up to 01.06.2028. His appointment is in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.
Jagannathan had assumed the office of DG Shipping on July 03, 2023, who earlier served as Zonal Development Commissioner, Santacruz Electronic Export Processing Zone (SEEPZ), Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Mumbai under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
As DG Shipping, he is attempting to leverage technology-based solution to computerize end to end the work flow process of the Directorate General of Shipping and the Examination Reforms for the compliance to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW).
