NTPC expect to commission more than 9,639 MW of capacity during the 12th Five Year Plan - April 1, 2012 till March 31, 2017. "This is the highest ever capacity addition in a five-year plan by the company. NTPC had added 9,610 MW in the last plan period," the company said in a statement. It added its total installed capacity has now touched 46,653 MW. It said that it commissioned 2,255 MW in the 2015-16 financial year through two units of 400 MW each in Koldam, Himachal Pradesh, one unit of 250 MW in Bongaigaon, Assam, one unit of 500 MW in Madhya Pradesh, one unit of 250 MW in Bihar, one unit of 195 MW in the Kanti power plant in Bihar and one 660 MW unit in Maharashtra. "The company has a capacity of over 23,000 MW under different phases of completion. NTPC has 18 coal-based, seven gas-based, eight solar renewable, one hydro and eight subsidiary/joint venture power stations," the statement added. NTPC said it will now focus on generation capacity of 128,000 MW by 2032 with focus on renewable energy.
