The ACC, on Friday, had to finally resort to extend the additional charge of NMDC CMD to Ms. Bharti Sivaswami Sihag (IAS:1983:HP), serving as AS&FA in the Ministry of Steel, for another three months ending September 30, 2016. Her tenure of additional charge as CMD had ended on June 30 which she has been carrying out ever since January 1, 2016.
The post has been vacant since January 1, 2016, after the erstwhile CMD Narendra Kothari superannuated on December 31, 2015.
Though Gopal Singh (CMD, CCL) was selected as successor to Kothari six months before Kothari was to retire, the ACC declined to clear Gopal Singh's appointment setting NMDC on a headless journey for almost a year.
Giving a further extension to Ms. Sihag may indicate that the Govt expects to appoint a regular incumbent for the company by the month of September this year.
