JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar is said to have declined invitations of Punjab Congress leader Capt Amarinder Singh and RLD leader Ajit Singh to campaign for their parties in Punjab and UP respectively. The Punjab Congress wanted him to campaign in the Ludhiana-Jalandhar belt where migrant workers from Bihar and UP form a substantial chunk of votes. Bihar's migrant workers are also present in large numbers in Ajit Singh backyard of western UP. It is said Nitish's refusal to campaign is a calculated one because, in both states, he doesn't want to be seen antagonizing BJP whose help he may require in Bihar in case RJD boss Lalu Prasad troubles him too much.
