May 17, 2021: The 2012-batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre IAS officer, Ghanshyam Das, is the new Secretary to the new Assam CM, Himanta Biswa Sarma. Earlier, Das, who belongs to Haryana, served as the state agriculture secretary.
Further, Assam civil service officer Simanta Kumar Das, who was the Tinsukia District Development Commissioner, is made Joint Secretary to the CM. Another state civil service officer Deba Prasad Misra has been appointed as the CM's principal private secretary.
This seems to have partly completed the formation of Sarma's CMO. Readers may recall that soon after being sworn in, Sarma had appointed the 1994-batch IAS Samir Sinha as his Principal Secretary
These changes in the CMO follow hard on the heels of the reappointment of dozen of IAS, IPS, and state civil services officers.
