MoRTH’s Tripura-Manipur connection: Coincidence or more than coincidence

Ranjan (IAS:1985:TR) as the new OSD of the Ministry of Road Transport &
Highways, many senior civil servants have come to see MoRTH’s & NHAI’s
North-East connection as more than a coincidence. Following his appointment as the
OSD in MoRTH on 03 March 2019, Ranjan in a matter of 23 days will be taking
over from Y S Malik as new Secretary, MoRTH. This post was earlier held by Manipur-Tripura cadre IAS officer Vijay Kumar Chhibber (IAS:1982:WB) and later by Sanjay Mitra (IAS:1982:WB). Like Ranjan headed NHAI as its
regular Chairman, Chhibber, too, had headed the infrastructure arm as a stopgap
arrangement for a few months. It may be worth underlining that even though Chhibber
retired long back, his services later availed by the center through his
appointment as an adviser to BJP Govt of Tripura; though Chhibber resigned
later last year.
