New Delhi (02.12.2024): Grapevine is abuzz that a former Chief Justice of India is cosying up with people who can help him becoming the President of India but there are certain questions about his chances of getting top job of the country. First, is the government ready to send such legal luminary to a post where there are more chances of him troubling the government as he knows Constitution of India better than anyone else with being former CJI; second the news is generated from the same quarters who used to swear by his liberal and plural credentials and his objective interpretation of law; third if at all the post of next president vacant and not already decided; fourth why the said CJI is giving interviews to every news channel post-retirement just to clarify his stand on many issues that he decided as CJI or preparing his ground for the next coveted role; and last but not the least why liberal groups are after him post-retirement to scuttle his chances to go to International Court of Justice or as Chairman, National Human Rights Commission? Why?
