Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that the post of Member (Finance), NHAI, may be shortly advertised. The PMO has reportedly rejected the proposal for extension of services of Satish Chandra (IAS:1985:PB). While a decision on his extension was awaited, Satish Chandra proceeded on leave as his tenure (under central deputation) came to an end on April 02. As reported earlier by Indianmandarins, the ministry had moved the proposal of Chandra's extension much before NHAI's recommendation to the ministry to advertise the post. If the post is filled by advertisement and subsequent interviews, the entire procedure may consume six months. So it means that the post may remain vacant for another six months. For the capital-intensive sector of highways & infrastructure, the post of Member (Finance) is critical importance. And so an advance planning should have been done to fill the post as soon as vacancy arose.
