Rakesh Maria, Mumbai ATS Chief, has been appointed new Police Commissioner of Mumbai. The top post of Mumbai police had fallen vacant after Satyapal Singh took VRS to contest Lok Sabha elections as BJP candidate from Western UP. 1981 IPS officer of Maharashtra cadre Rakesh Maria, the then DCP, Traffic, had played key role in cracking the Bombay serial blast case in 1993.
