Shrikant Mahiyaria (IRTS:1993) may shortly take charge as Member (Traffic) at Inland Waterways Authority of India. The post fell vacant thirty months back when Member (Traffic) S S Mishra (an IRTS officer) had moved as Chairman of Paradip Port Trust. IWAI has been facing an acute shortage of critical human resources at senior levels. So far, there has been no replacement for Vice-chairperson, Ms Jayashree Mukharjee (IAS:1986:MH), after she repatriated to her state cadre on October 7, 2014. Member (Tech) R P Khare demitted office on January 31 on attaining superannuation age. These two critical decision-making posts in senior management have been laying vacant for more than two years.
