At the release of Kapil
Sibal's book “Shades of Truth†at Teen Murti on Friday, the master of ceremony
appropriately remarked that more than a book release it appeared to be an
occasion for the launch of the Mahgathbandhan ! Reason, the book launch had an
obvious attendance of several top congress leaders and also of several other
leaders from the Opposition. In attendance were Sharad Yadav, Sitaram Yechury,
Farooq Abdullah, a freshly TMC minted Chandan Mitra. Former PM Manmohan Singh
and Former VP Hamid Ansari also graced the event. The panel discussion
obviously veered around the 2019 elections. The general opinion was that its
the Coalitions or the lack of it which will determine the outcome. But what
stood out was the anecdotes that were shared on the occasion. While underlining the
importance of social media both Kapil Sibal and Chidambaram conceded that
Congress failed to gauge the massive impact of Social Media in 2014. But while
elaborating on the subject Chidambaram very honestly said that he was now fast
learning the ropes in the realm of Social Media and revealed that the Social
Media has also introduced him to the choicest of the swear words in Hindi. Taking the mood of
confessions forward , others picked up from where Chidambaram left. Sharad
Yadav said that he will like to reveal that Sri Sri Ravishankar himself had
told him that the arrangements of food for the crowd that assembled at the
Ramlila Maidan in Delhi for the Anna Hazare agitation against the UPA Govt. was
done by him. Sibal did not step back and admitted that whole handling of Baba
Ramdev Agitation including receiving him at the Delhi Airport by four top
ministers in 2012 was a big mistake ! Chandan Mitra appeared
quite tuned in to his newest Avatar of being a Trinamool man and forcefully
said that the next PM will be from among the regional satraps and not from any
national party. Yechury in a lighter vain was quick to point out his new
loyalty to the TMC Supremo Mamta Bannerji. He also summed up the debate that
centered around Who against Modi theme by coining – Its Bharat vs Modi in 2019.
