Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that the NaMo administration has finally decided to open the doors for lateral entry of private persons/professionals in the ranks of Deputy Secretary, Director and Joint Secretary. Reportedly, the number of posts marked for lateral entry and the terms of appointment, etc are being drafted. Though there have been several examples of lateral-entry - appointment of Dr Rajesh Kotecha & P Parameshwaran Ayer as Union Secretary in the Departments of Aayush and Drinking Water & Sanitation respectively, lateral entry at the middle level (DS/Dir & JS) will be the first and final institutional statement of the Govt on this much-debated subject. The accelerated pace in this direction ahead of the 2019 General Election indicates that if Team NDA is returned to power, the face and pace of governance and administration would be in consonance with NaMo's rhetoric of New India and Mission 2022.
