Kerala makes arrangement for shortage of IAS officers

In view of an acute shortage of IAS officers, Kerala has been constrained to give additional responsibilities to its existing officers.


The additional charge of principal secretary, forest and wildlife department has been given to planning and economic affairs principal secretary Dr. A Jayathilak.


SC/ST development department principal secretary Biswanath Sinha will hold the additional charge of general administration department. Principal secretary, higher education department, Dr. Usha Titus, will head the energy and environment departments along with her present post.


Agriculture department principal secretary Dr. Devendrakumar Singh will hold the charge of all departments which are headed at present by animal husbandry department principal secretary X Anil on his superannuation.


BS Thirumeni has been transferred from higher secondary education to general education as its director. Jalanidhi executive director K Gopalakrishnan will be the new deputy secretary of general administration (AIS) department. He will continue to hold the additional charge of Jalanidhi executive director.


The government has also decided to give the additional responsibilities of planning and economic affairs deputy secretary and Central Plan Monitoring Unit (CPMU) director to social justice department director Jaffer Malik. Pathanamthitta ADM V R Premkumar will be the new higher secondary director. He will hold the additional charge of Additional Skill Acquisition Programme.
