Justice Dhirendra Hiralal Waghela succeeds Justice Pradip Kumar Mohanty (acting CJ) as new Chief Justice of Odisha High Court. He was sworn-in as the by Governor S C Jamir in Cuttack yesterday. Prior to this Justice Waghela officiated as the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court. He was transferred to Odisha HC in in April this year by a presidential warrant of appointment.
After he assumed the offices the number of judges in Odisha HC has now reached 22, its sanctioned strength.
Born in August 1954 in Rajkot (Gujarat) Justice Waghela began legal practice in his hometown in November 1975. Further he rose to the level of Additional Judge of Gujarat HC in September 1999.
