New Delhi (26.05.2021): Following the appointment as new Director, CBI on Tuesday Subodh Kumar Jaiswal (IPS:1985:MH) assumed charge as Director, CBI today in terms after handing over charge of Director General, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). CBI was working without a regular chief for over three months after Rishi Kumar Shukla (Retd IPS:1984:MP) completed his two-year tenure on February 3. After Shukla completed his two-year fixed term Praveen Sinha (IPS:1988:GJ) was officiating as Director of the premier investigative agency as an interim arrangement. In the backdrop of former Mumbai police chief, Param Bir Singh’s petition against former home minister Anil Deshmukh Jaiswal’s appointment as CBI Chief assumes significance and has sent shockwaves in the ruling MVA in Maharashtra.
