New Delhi (09.05.2026): The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has cleared the appointment of Jasmeet Singh Bindra (IRTS: 1997) as Chairperson of the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) for a five-year term. Bindra succeeds Dr. M. Angamuthu (IAS: 2002: AM), who has transitioned to a regular role as Chairman of the Mumbai Port Authority (MPA).
A distinguished officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service, Bindra brings extensive expertise in multimodal logistics and traffic operations. He most recently served as the Principal Chief Operations Manager (Co-ord) at South East Central Railway (SECR), Bilaspur, following a stint as the zone's Principal Chief Commercial Manager.
Bindra’s career is marked by strategic leadership roles, including Executive Director (Traffic) for the Gati Shakti wing at the Railway Board and Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Ranchi. His move to the maritime sector aligns with the Centre’s focus on port-rail connectivity. At VPA, Bindra is expected to spearhead infrastructure modernization and smart port initiatives under the Sagarmala Programme.
