New Delhi (28.05.2021): Following the appointment of BVR Subrahmanyam (IAS:1987:CG) as OSD and the next Commerce Secretary (Govt of India) the Union Home Ministry on Thursday announced the appointment of Arun Kumar Mehta (IAS:1988:JK) as the new Chief Secretary of Jammu & Kashmir. He may have a tenure up to November 2023 i.e. till retirement. It may be underlined that after returning to J&K in December 2018, Mehta headed the Finance Department and took various initiatives to fast-track the development process and bring accountability and transparency in governance. In April 2020 he was empanelled for holding a Secretary rank post in the Government of India.
