IPS officer Ansari of Gujarat 'deemed' to have resigned

The Gujarat government has informed the Ahmedabad-based Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) that 1993 batch IPS officer Samiullah Ansari, whose VRS application was rejected by the state government, was working as a professor with two US universities in Boston and Salem.
Ansari has allegedly been on unauthorized leave since October 1, 2010. In July 2014, the state government had issued a notice that his absence would be treated as 'deemed resignation for unauthorized absence." The officer is said to have taken a sabbatical to write his PhD, but after two years of his authorized leave, he showed no signs of returning and discharging the bond he had signed before going on sabbatical.
