IAS officer & confidante of Nitish Kumar’s VRS approved, may contest polls

Patna (15.07.2025): Ahead of Bihar Assembly polls, VRS of Dinesh Kumar Rai (IAS: 2010: BH), a close confidante of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has been accepted. He was scheduled to retire in January 2026. Rai had applied for voluntary retirement on June 13, 2025. The government has granted voluntary retirement with effect from July 15, 2025.It is widely believed that he will contest election from an assembly constituency in Shahabad district in Janta Dal United ticket. Rai, promoted from Bihar Administrative Service in 2022, was serving as secretary, department of revenue and land reforms. He had also worked in chief minister officer.ALSO READ

Patna (15.07.2025): Ahead of Bihar Assembly polls, VRS of Dinesh Kumar Rai (IAS: 2010: BH), a close confidante of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has been accepted. He was scheduled to retire in January 2026. Rai had applied for voluntary retirement on June 13, 2025. The government has granted voluntary retirement with effect from July 15, 2025.
