Two years of rigorous exercise to pick the CMD in Hindustan Insecticide Limited has failed to yield desired result and the post is still lying vacant. This is why despite having PESB recommendation, dated 10 April 2018, M P Eshwar (CMD, Instrumentation Ltd) is not very much sure of his fate. The two years long tragic trail of selection and rejection for the post is an indicator that the candidate needs the nod from the head of the ministry before expecting ACC approval.

It may be recalled that the GGM of PDIL Sunil Kumar Gupta was selected for the CMD’s post on June 10, 2016. But the concerned ministry made objection to PESB’s recommendation and Gupta’s prospects met a tragic end.

Thereafter, this post was advertised again in March 2017 and interview was held in May 2017. This time PESB did not find any of the candidates suitable and it recommended that the Government might choose an appropriate course of action for selection. This led to another round of exercise and M P Eshwar was selected on April 10 this year.

People is power corridors say that Eshwar might be aware of the inside story how S K Gupta’s ignorance to meet and greet the head of the ministry led to the rejection of PESB recommendation. But this is an old story which still haunts in corridors of power.  

Those in the know of the affairs say that Eshwar made several efforts to meet the head of the ministry but failed get an appointment.
