Shimla (04.03.2025): Himachal Pradesh High Court dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking reinstatement of Ilma Afroz (IPS: 2018: HP) as Baddi superintendent of police (SP) in the state’s Solan district.
The court rejected the plea filed by agriculturist Sucha Ram from the Dholowal village, claiming that Afroz was pressured into taking leave when she was the Baddi SP and that law and order in the area deteriorated after her transfer. The division bench also revoked the stay on Afroz’s transfer.
Ilma Afroz is currently posted at the State Police Headquarters in Shimla who was posted as Baddi SP on January 27 last year, went on a 15-day earned leave on November 7, reportedly due to differences with Congress MLA Ram Kumar Chaudhary. Chaudhary, however, has denied any involvement in the officer’s sanctioned leave.
