New Delhi (09.08.2024): With the change of government in Bangladesh after its Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned due to violent protest which also resulted in killings and fleeing of Hindus and other minorities in the country, the Government of India has constituted a committee to monitor the current situation along Indo-Bangladesh Border (IBB). Hundreds and thousands of minorities are camping at the border to save themselves and are not ready to return due to life threats.’
The Committee will establish communication channels with the authorities in Bangladesh to ensure safety of Indian citizens and also people belonging to other minority communities. The Committee will be headed by ADG, Border Security Force (BSF), Eastern Command & will have IG, BSF Frontier HQ South Bengal, IG, BSF Frontier HQ Tripura, Member (Planning & Development), Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), &, Secretary, LPAI, as its members.
