Goyal (IPS:1984:PB) has been appointed successor to the outgoing Research &
Analysis Wing (R&AW) Chief Anil Kumar Dhasmana (IPS:1981:MP) completing his
extended tenure on June 28, 2019. Reportedly, the appointment has been cleared and orders to this effect may be issued shortly. Reportedly, Arvind Kumar's (IPS:1984:AM) appointment as next IB Chief too has been cleared and may be announced shortly. (See weblink) K Ilango, J&K cadre IPS officer who later resigned from
IPS to join RAW cadre, was once a co-frontrunner for the RAW chief’s post but he missed the opportunity after Dhasmana given extension. Ilango retired January this year. Another, finest officer Vivek Johri (IPS:1984:MP) was also
been co-frontrunner for the top job but reportedly, the Govt could not ignore balancing
act. The outgoing RAW Chief Dhasmana is MP cadre IPS officer and the incumbent CBI
Director too belong to MP cadre.
