Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that the Union Commerce Ministry has advised the Gems & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) to hold a one-day 'Gold Summit' in the first week of December.
Since this would be the ever first such summit in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi may address the conference. Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia and DEA Secretary Subhash Garg may preside over the sessions of the summit.
Reportedly, the summit may also discuss the need to revise the gold policy in the post GST era. The timing of the conference is seen loaded with political meanings as it falls right before the Gujarat state assembly elections.
